About BreakPoint Learning Foundation

A Florida nonprofit corporation, recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) public charity, founded to remove financial barriers to learning for K–12 students.

Why we exist

The cost of a backpack shouldn't decide whether a child can learn.

Across Miami-Dade, families navigate impossible tradeoffs every August: school supplies or groceries, a uniform or the electric bill. Teachers and counselors see it every day — bright, capable students arriving without the basic materials they need to participate.

BreakPoint Learning Foundation was created to take that decision off families' shoulders. We partner directly with public schools, fund the essentials those schools tell us they need, and trust their administrators, counselors, and social workers to deliver support quietly and without stigma.

We focus on what schools and students need now: supplies, books, uniforms, equipment, and the small fees that keep kids out of the play, off the team, or away from the field trip. As we grow, we plan to expand into tutoring, enrichment programming, and college- and career-readiness initiatives — always in service of the same mission.

Our principles

How we work — and what we won't do.

Direct-to-school

We give to schools, not to individuals. School staff already know who needs what and can distribute support discreetly, without requiring families to disclose hardship publicly.

Need, not paperwork

We rely on the judgment of educators and counselors. Students don't fill out applications to receive a backpack.

Essentials first

We start where the gap is widest — basic materials and participation costs — and grow into enrichment as our resources allow.

Local focus, lasting impact

Phase 1 concentrates on Miami-Dade County so we can build deep partnerships with the schools and staff who know their students best.
